Join us for the Spring Let’s Talk series as we explore More Perfect Season 4. Host and managing editor Julia Longoria, and her guests, explore how the Supreme Court got so supreme. We will explore nine podcasts about a variety of cases brought before the Supreme Court and how the Justices arrived at their decisions. Our committee was intrigued by the podcast Clarence X which explores the life of one of the most powerful justices on the Supreme Court today. We selected this series because it takes us down a new path of study and is relevant to the issues our society is struggling with today. Those who attend the March 18 LWVUS Judiciary Study may enjoy a deeper dive into understanding the Court. This series is brought to us by New York Public Radio WNYC/ WQXR studios.
About More Perfect
“We’re taught the Supreme Court was designed to be above the fray of politics. But at a time when partisanship seeps into every pore of American life, are the nine justices living up to that promise? More Perfect is a guide to the current moment on the Court. We bring the highest court of the land down to earth, telling the human dramas at the Court that shape so many aspects of American life — from our religious freedom to our artistic expression, from our reproductive choices to our voice in democracy.” WNYC Studios
The Spring Let’s Talk Series will meet on Tuesday, April 1, 15, 29, and May 13 and 27 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm. We hope that our regular participants will appreciate the extra half hour for discussion.
